On September 18th and 19th 2020 the Minister of State for European Affais Clément Beaune traveled to Cyprus and Greece on his first official visit, to demonstrate the importance for the European Union and France of the security and stability issues in the Eastern Mediterranean.
On the occasion of his visit to Cyprus, he will hold talks with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nicos Anastasiades, and the Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides. He reaffirmed on this occasion the solidarity of France toward Cyprus.
He also had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Charalambos Petrides, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, during a presentation of the situation in the Cypriot maritime areas in Larnaca. He then boarded a helicopter from the Cypriot National Guard to fly over the island’s maritime space.
