Once again, France has been hit right through its heart, its families and symbols by a coward terrorist attack against the Bastille Day celebrations in Nice.
Once again, Cyprus stands in solidarity. Numerous testimonies of sympathy as well as messages of condolences and consolation have been sent to our Embassy : from the Republic of Cyprus’ authorities, at the highest level, from the diplomatic community, from various contacts that the Embassy’s staff maintains with Cypriots - from every community- , and lastly from citizens feeling hurt by the savagery of these attacks.
The French Embassy, and through it France as a whole, warmly thanks them and is extremely grateful for their support.
During those hard times, the Embassy remains fully mobilized and in close contact with both our Paris-based authorities and the Cypriots authorities, in order to define the measures that have to be taken in such circumstances.
A book of condolences will be opened at the Residence de France (130, Constantinoupoleos Avenue, 2038 Strovolos) on Monday the 18th and Tuesday the 19th, from 10am to midday.
Moreover, the French-Cypriot Business Association is organizing a gathering on Monday the 18th at 7pm, in front of the French Embassy (34, Dimostheni Severi Avenue, 1080 Nicosie) near the French flag. A minute of silence will be observed and homage will be paid to the victims.
