More participating restaurants and more people celebrating the French dinner!
The third edition of the event Good France took place on March 21st, 2017, all around the world, and confirmed the success of this international event as 2100 restaurants and hotel management schools participated in the event, on all five continents. The number of participants has therefore increased by 50% since the inception of the event in 2014.
In Cyprus, the number of participating restaurants has also increased considerably, from one participant in 2014 to seven restaurants having organized French dinners on the 21st of March 2017. For restaurateurs, in general, the success was visible in the attendance since, on the whole, a greater influx than last year was observed. Some restaurants have even had to refuse customers, a sign of the growing enthusiasm aroused in Cyprus by the French gastronomy and this event.
At the French Residence, the Ambassador invited around forty Cypriot and international personalities for a dinner prepared by the Chef of the Residence, Mr. Mouneïm Benihoud.
The Embassy also contacted the participating restaurants in order to give the floor to the chefs, cooks and restaurateurs who bring the French gastronomy to life on the island of Cyprus.

In Paris, the operation began on the Arc de Triomphe, where the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, Mr. Jean-Marc Ayrault, launched the operation with the famous chef Alain Ducasse. Tourists on site had the pleasure of tasting the menu prepared by the most prestigious French cooking schools.
During his speech, the Minister stressed the importance of French gastronomy and of this operation for France’s influence, its values of sharing and opening up to the world, but also for the promotion of tourism on the French territory, an essential sector of the French economy, which represents two million jobs and 8% of the national wealth. The Minister also praised the central role of many prestigious French gastronomy schools, which, together with world-renowned chefs represent a means of influence and promotion of the know-how and assets of our country.
