Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, received Espen Barth Eide, Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Cyprus, in Paris.
They jointly reviewed the inter-Cypriot negotiations.
Jean-Marc Ayrault, who received his Cypriot counterpart, Ioannis Kasoulides, on April 8, 2016, reaffirmed to Espen Barth Eide France’s support for the process to reunify the island and the good offices mission that he is leading.
Espen Barth Eide then lunched with Mr. Pierre Levy, Director of the European Union division at the Quai d’Orsay, and Mr. Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, Deputy-Director of the United Nations and international organisations division. The lunch was followed by consultations chaired by Mr. Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Director of the United Nations and international organisations division. These in-depth consultations gave the opportunity to listen to the UNSG Special Advisor regarding the ongoing negotiating process and to take stock of it.
