Maskbook: A creative and participative activity on the fifth anniversary of the Paris Agreement [fr]
Prominent figures and artists from all over the world join the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to generate positive momentum to combat climate change.
To mark five years since the signing of the Paris Agreement, France is renewing its commitment in the face of the climate emergency.
The organization of COP21 and the adoption of the Paris Climate Agreement on 12 December 2015 were high points for French diplomacy. These events also recalled the need to act collectively, in everyone’s interest, for present and future generations.
To mark this anniversary, and going beyond political and diplomatic actions, such as the Climate Ambition Summit, we are bringing together and remobilizing all those who contribute to boost global awareness of the need to act together. That is why we have launched an artistic, positive, climate-committed activity. This project is in collaboration with Art of Change 21, the association that created Maskbook during COP21.
We asked prominent international figures to take part in an original video, in which they wear masks designed by artists from around the world using recycled materials, each bearing a message for the climate. By agreeing to get involved in this project, the figures and artists that you will discover on Saturday on the Ministry’s social media pages volunteered to show their enthusiastic support for the fight against climate change.
The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs would like to thank them for their participation. It also wishes to thank the Schneider Foundation for its involvement in the activity.
The list of prominent figures and artists involved in this event can be found at: https://www.maskbook.org/fr.
The aim of the Maskbook project is to get people involved, inform and be inclusive. Therefore, following the video’s publication, Art of Change 21 will launch a wider Maskbook campaign, addressed to everyone who wants to celebrate, in an innovative and creative way, their commitment to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, the fight against climate change and more generally the preservation of our planet. The embassies, Instituts Français and Alliance Française branches around the world are committed to this project and can join in the action. By implementing Maskbook as cooperation activities with local partners, they will be taking action to create awareness about climate issues among a wider audience.
On 12 December 2020 and leading up to COP26, scheduled for November 2021, let’s all reiterate our commitment to collective and ambitious action in the fight against global warming.
